What do you get when you cross a big city with a pristine tropical beach? Well, toss in a luau or two and you've got the gem (and capital) of the Hawaiian isles.
- As it turns out, water and fire do mix. Hang 10 with the Hawaiian Fire Surf School and get supportive surf lessons from its team of professional firefighters/surfing instructors. Gnarly.
- When Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7, 1941, the USS Arizona became the final resting place of many of its 1,177 crewmembers. Visit the memorial to learn and reflect.
- Molten lava: super-hot scary stuff and progenitor of the Hawaiian Islands. Stop by a couple of Honolulu's volcanic cones like Punchbowl or Diamond Head and be glad they're (probably) extinct.
